The installation of Triple Pasture provides three ellipses in a quad at Southern Oregon University to encourage students to use the shared space in both traditional and new and imaginative ways, fostering social interactions of all kinds. While 2 of the ellipses are more natural in their landscape form, one of the ellipses is made of a raised platform, consisting of turf and arcing benches during the day, but then rimmed in color changing light at night. While the lights integrate into the flat turf, they also play off the perforated metal benches for a glowing effect. The platform's LED lights also provide interest by acting as type of thermometer--the current temperate determines the color.
